I suppose you might be asking: Roger, what is Hotmart MASTERS? It is our online, free and global event with exclusive talks from major players in the digital market.

To start our experience, I chose the talk from entrepreneur and digital influencer Tiago Fonseca, who has one of the biggest entrepreneurship channels on YouTube.

If you want to watch the video, just hit the play! And if you want to read the transcription of the content, keep scrolling to find out how you can get more views on YouTube and turn it into sales!

A brief intro on how Thiago Fonseca started in the digital business…

Tiago started out in 2013, when he created a comedy channel on YouTube, which was successful and got millions of subscribers. After a while, he decided to start an entrepreneurship channel based on everything he had learned and now he even has a finance channel.

That’s a lot of channels. You can see that Tiago doesn’t stop creating content, right? Obviously, YouTube is a powerful tool to reach more people, but it can also drastically increase your sales.

Tiago’s strategies to reach more audiences on YouTube

The first thing is to be an authority on a subject. Authority? Now you’re asking, what do you mean by Authority, Roger?

Tiago’s view on this is that there are two types of authority: imposed or perceived.

Imposed Authority x Perceived Authority

Imposed Authority is when you have a fancy CV full of credentials and titles, but the audience doesn’t really value or recognize you as a reference in the area.

On the other hand, Perceived Authority is when the audience takes notice, respects you and sees that you really know what you’re talking about.

The challenge is to take an honest look in the mirror and ask yourself: in what area do people perceive you as an authority? But if you do this, it’s much easier to grow on YouTube.

Another important question to think about here: what is one of the main search engines on the internet? Google, yeah, and next up is YouTube. So you really need to think about how to grow within this search-based scenario, how will people find you. Our speaker, Thiago, points out three paths: paid traffic, the viral effect and organic searches.

Paid traffic

Paid traffic is done through online ads. A huge perk about this way is that you can increase your audience and gain a lot of followers through ads. A downside is that the public you attract this way may not engage with your content.

Tiago likes to say that you might be able to buy attention, but you don’t buy the audience’s love. So, the paid traffic strategy may not yield a really qualified and engaged audience that you’re probably looking for.

Viral Effect

The second way to build your audience is the Viral Effect, that is, to produce content that spreads quickly.

Organic Searches

And the third strategy to grow on YouTube is through Organic Searches. The platform is the second largest search engine out there, second only to Google.

A pro tip from our man Tiago: The simplest and smartest way to grow on YouTube is to create content in a way that it will be easily found by the public. But how can you stand out with so much content out there?

Choose your subject

The first thing is to choose your subject. What are you going to talk about? Weight loss, entrepreneurship, makeup?

Keyword search

Then, do a keyword search on Keyword Planner, a free tool from Google, and find out what are the most searched for words in your niche, your area of expertise. From these results, you can come up with your titles and your content.

This way, you can guarantee that your content is relevant to what people are looking for and that people can find it.

HERO x HUB x HELP

In addition to appearing on the list of organic searches, it is important to pay attention to another point. YouTube classifies content in three ways: HERO, HUB, and HELP.

The first one, HERO, is really well produced. It’s much more elaborate content, with more expensive production. It’s also more likely to be shared.

The next type of content is the HUB, ideal for you to generate engagement and connection with your audience. This content is made to interact with your audience and to draw them closer to you and your brand.

People love to hear and see your Hero content, but they want something more to connect with. For example, questions and answers about your product or behind the scenes of your life. Things that let them backstage and allow them to better relate with you or your brand.

And the third type of content is HELP, which the name says: help me! This content is specially made to help your audience. People want to learn and are looking for expert advice.

So, did you get your head around the three types of content? And now, which one is best if you want to grow on YouTube? HERO, HUB or HELP?

For Tiago, the best content for you to increase your audience is HELP, which is completely focused on YouTube searches. An example in practice are tutorials – you know, those famous How-Tos or DIYs.

So, what kind of content can you produce for your audience? What are people looking for? What do people want to learn?

And to wrap up our talk today, I want to give you Tiago’s four steps for you to create a winning video when it comes to sales.

Tiago’s 4 steps to create a winning video

Your content needs to attract attention, generate connection, create desire and then motivate specific action.

  1. The first step is to create quality content to attract people’s attention.
  2. The second step is to establish a connection with the audience, who need to be interested in you, enjoy your content, and like your channel.
  3. The third step is to create desire through the quality and relevance of your content.
  4. After having gone through these three stages, the time to take action comes!  It’s time to ask your follower to do something. For example, how about buying your product?

So, are you ready to follow Tiago Fonseca’s techniques and strategies? This talk was part of the first edition of Hotmart MASTERS, our online, global and free event.
